Recording in El Paso

El Paso is part of our core service area, not an afterthought. We are based about 45 minutes north up I-10 in Las Cruces, and El Paso sits inside our 50-mile radius, so there is no travel charge to bring the full mobile rig to your location.

    Capturing El Paso's Cross-Border Sound

El Paso's music bleeds across genres in a way that shapes how we mic a session. Rock bands built on cumbia rhythms need the percussion and low end to stay defined under the guitars, so we prioritize separation on the kit and any auxiliary percussion. Hip-hop artists working norteño and corrido samples are vocal-first sessions: the Shure SM7B through a Cloudlifter, set for a clean, forward lead that sits over the beat.

Singer-songwriters pulling from country and corrido traditions get patient condenser placement on guitar and voice. Punk and metal bands tracking loud get dynamics that handle the SPL and a fast, energy-first setup. The process flexes to the music; what stays constant is clean capture and honest levels.

Where We Set Up Around the City

We drive to you anywhere in the metro: the east side, the west side, central, the lower valley, the Mission Trail area, and near UTEP. We also cover communities adjacent to El Paso, including Anthony, Canutillo, and Sunland Park.

The room does not need to be fancy. It needs power and enough space for your group. We have tracked in living rooms, converted garages, backyard setups, and proper rehearsal spaces, and we adapt the mic plan to whatever the room gives us, taming harsh reflections or using a live space to our advantage.

    The Session, Step by Step

We load the truck in Las Cruces and make the short drive down I-10. Once we arrive, setup runs 30 to 60 minutes: positioning mics, running cables, dialing in headphone mixes, and getting levels. The Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 with ADAT expansion handles up to 26 simultaneous channels, so a full band can track live with everyone monitored.

When the headphones sound right, you play and we capture. A four-hour block typically covers two to three songs, with no clock anxiety because pricing is per song, not per hour.

    Deliverables and Per-Song Pricing

Stems ($50/song): raw isolated WAVs for every channel, ready to take anywhere. Mixdown ($100/song): a balanced stereo mix with EQ, compression, panning, and effects. Mix & Master Basic ($150/song): release-ready and streaming-optimized in five business days. Mix & Master Pro ($300/song): advanced processing with multiple revision rounds.

The setup fee is $150 per four-hour session and covers transport, setup, sound check, and breakdown.

    Booking and Texas Logistics

El Paso sessions are easy to schedule because the drive is short; a week's notice is ideal, but we can often accommodate less. GoatHead Audio is licensed and insured in New Mexico, and for Texas sessions we operate as a visiting service provider, with the same professional standards on every booking.

Send us your song count, band size, preferred dates, and location, and we quote the same day. Call, email, or reach out on Instagram.
