How to Book Shows in New Mexico
Book your first shows in your own city. Bars, coffee shops, open mics, house shows, community events. Don't try to book a statewide tour before you've played your hometown.

What to Send Venues
A short email with: your band name, genre, a link to your music (streaming link or demo), a one-paragraph description, and your availability. That's it. Don't write a novel. Don't oversell.
The music does the talking. If the booker listens and likes what they hear, they'll respond. If your recording sounds amateur, that's the impression they take. A professional demo or EP makes a real difference.
Build Relationships
Go to shows. Talk to the people who book rooms. Support other bands. The New Mexico scene is small enough that relationships matter. A booker who knows your face and has seen you at other shows is more likely to give you a slot.
Offer to open for touring acts. Offer to fill a last-minute cancellation. Be reliable. Show up on time, bring your audience, and be easy to work with. Word gets around.

Expanding Beyond Your City
Once you've built a local following, reach out to venues in nearby cities. Las Cruces to El Paso is an easy swap. Albuquerque to Santa Fe works similarly. Build regional instead of trying to jump to national.
When reaching out to out-of-town venues, mention any local bands you can co-bill with. A local support act brings an audience and makes the show easier for the venue to promote.
The Recording Advantage
Professional recordings give you credibility before the booker has seen you play. A clean, well-mixed demo or EP on streaming platforms says you take your music seriously. It's the difference between a cold email and one with evidence.
GoatHead Audio records demos, EPs, and live shows for NM musicians specifically to give them tools for booking, promotion, and distribution. A single session can produce the material you need to start booking better shows.
