Recording in Santa Fe
Santa Fe is an art city, and that sensibility runs through its music. GoatHead Audio brings professional mobile recording to Santa Fe from Las Cruces, traveling with the full multitrack rig and setting up wherever you need us.

Santa Fe Rooms as Part of the Sound
Not every city has rooms worth talking about. Santa Fe does, and we use them. Adobe walls are dense and reflective but irregular, and that combination produces a warm, diffused reverb that flatters acoustic instruments and voices. High ceilings with exposed vigas add vertical space to the sound. Tile floors bring brightness that, balanced carefully, adds air without harshness.
These are not neutral studio rooms; they have character, and a well-chosen Santa Fe space can become part of the recording. We place mics to capture that natural reverb where it helps and to control it where it does not, so the room works for the song instead of against it.
Tracking Acoustic, Classical, and Flamenco Sessions
Santa Fe leans toward acoustic, folk, world, classical, flamenco, and experimental work, and those sessions reward patience. A condenser on a classical or flamenco guitar in a live adobe room demands precise placement: a few inches changes the balance of body, attack, and room tone. We spend the extra time because the subtleties carry the performance.
For indie rock and fuller arrangements, we mix close mics with room mics to keep the energy of a live take while preserving control in the mix. Vocals get the right capsule for the voice and the space, whether that is an intimate, dry lead or one that breathes with the room.

What We Bring and How We Set Up
The full rig travels: a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 with ADAT expansion for up to 26 channels, Shure SM7B, SM58, SM57, Beta 52A and Beta 91A mics, drum kits, Cloudlifter preamps, headphone distribution for the whole group, and all the stands, cables, and hardware. You provide your instruments and a space with power.
The trip is about four hours, so sessions are usually full-day or multi-session bookings. For live event capture, we coordinate with the venue ahead of time on cable runs, mic placement, and power so the day runs smoothly.
Pricing and Travel
Per-song pricing keeps it simple: Stems $50, Mixdown $100, Mix & Master Basic $150, Mix & Master Pro $300, with a $150 setup fee per four-hour session covering two to three songs.
Santa Fe is roughly 270 miles from Las Cruces, so a $1/mile round-trip travel charge applies, quoted clearly before you book. Multi-day projects lower the per-session travel cost, and we can bundle Santa Fe with an Albuquerque booking when the timing lines up.
Booking Santa Fe Sessions
Reach out with your project details and a few possible dates. Two to three weeks of notice is ideal so we can coordinate the trip, though more notice always helps and we can sometimes bundle your session with other work in northern New Mexico.
Tell us if you are tracking acoustic pieces, a full band, or a live event, and we will plan the setup and quote the travel upfront.
